Description

Essentia HealthNorthern Pines formerly White Community Hospital and Nursing Home has provided quality health care and longterm care to residents of Minnesotas Iron Range for more than 50 years

White Community Hospital was created by local citizens who saw a need for a hospital in Aurora They secured government grants and donations from local residents and businesses to build the 50bed hospital that opened in August 1960 A year later our community asked for longterm care and we began converting some hospital beds to that use In 2006 we built a new wing for our hospital services

Recognizing the need to strengthen and stabilize health care in Aurora the hospitals Board of Directors and shareholders voted to join Essentia Health in 2010 The new integrated organization has its own board of directors with local representation Shareholders have become part of the hospitals new fundraising foundation

The integration brings our hospital and Essentia Healths Aurora Clinic into a closer relationship In 2011 a 45 million project will bring the clinic into our hospital The 13000squarefoot expansion also features a new laboratory radiology suite lobby and registration area
