History
Valley Hospital amp Medical Center opened its doors in 1969 It began as the culmination of efforts by 14 local physicians who saw a need for a hospital located outside Spokanes urban core The 95bed hospital was first in the area to have 24hour physician care in the emergency department
The hospital has expanded its services over the years to meet the growing needs of the community and the region A 28bed addition was completed in 1971 An outpatient surgery program was created in 1975 A threestory 71000 square foot addition was completed in the mid80s
A 53000squarefoot addition was added in 2002 expanding the hospital by 40 percent The additional space houses a new MRI in the radiology department new surgical suites an expanded and upgraded outpatient area and emergency department as well as a new Education Center with the latest in audiovisual technology Today Valley Hospital and Medical Center is one of the most modern healthcare facilities in the region
