On April 12 2008 history was made when St Vincents HealthCare took over operations of St Lukes Hospital one of the cornerstones in the Jacksonville healthcare community The move will extend St Vincents historical mission of serving the sick and the poor to the Southside of the North Florida community of more than 1 million residents

What will be new are the additional resources available for the region and the opportunity for residents on Jacksonvilles Southside to experience the same quality healthcare offered by the Daughters of Charity at St Vincents Medical Center without having to cross the St Johns River
