Grove Hospital Center is a 425bed complex that provides a broad spectrum of inpatient psychiatric services to adults and adolescents as well as comprehensive residential psychiatric services to adults The center is owned and operated by the State of Maryland and is under the governance of the Mental Hygiene Administration of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
We are located on a scenic 200acre campus in Catonsville Maryland just outside of Baltimore
Fully Joint Commission accredited and CMS certified Spring Grove has an ongoing commitment to providing psychiatric care and treatment of the highest quality We also maintain a number of student teaching programs and serve as a popular training site for many professional school including the University of Maryland
Spring Grove was founded in 1797 and is the second oldest continuously operating psychiatric hospital in the United States We are proud of our rich history and our long tradition of meeting the mental health treatment needs of the citizens of Maryland
Visiting Hours are from 1 pm 800 pm Daily Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult escort As additional special arrangements may be necessary in certain instances we recommend that you contact the patients social worker in advance if a visit by a minor is desired
