A unique patient and family beeper system provides outpatients and their families the confidence to move about the hospital Patients andor family members will be beeped when the department is ready to receive them or in the case of surgery when the surgeon wishes to update family members after the procedure

Eight Operating Rooms are equipped with the latest technology available in the industry Special booms that house a video tower high definition TVs and other surgical equipment provide surgeons the tools they need at their fingertips

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit is centrally located to recovery patients from surgery cardiac catheterization endoscopy and other procedures and is staffed by highly experienced anesthesists and nursing staff

The Intensive Care Unit has been expanded from 18 to 28 beds

A new stateoftheart Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory provides the very latest technology for heart patients

Serving the mental health needs of the older patient in a compassionate setting Behavioral Health Services has expanded the number of geropsychiatric beds from 8 to 14

History

A History Rich In Tradition
Southside Regional Medical Center has been serving the community for over 100 years In 1884 the original hospital was established as the Petersburg Home for the Sick at 430 South Sycamore Street

In 1886 it was named Petersburg Hospital

In 1953 a new hospital was built at its current location 801 South Adams Street It became known as Petersburg General Hospital

In 1986 to reflect the larger geographical area we serve as well as the comprehensive services that have been added over the years the hospitals name was changed to Southside Regional Medical Center

Southside Regional Medical Center serves the communities of Petersburg Hopewell Colonial Heights Fort Lee and Chester and the counties of Prince George Dinwiddie Sussex Surry and southern Chesterfield

In Summer 2008 the hospital will move to a new campus and a new building Adjacent to Interstate 95 we will be conveniently located to better serve the region
