NMMCPontotoc a notforprofit hospital and nursing home encompasses 29 hospital beds 19 of which are used to serve acute care and swingbed patients and 10 which are used for subacute patients The medical staff includes six physicians with admitting privileges as well as two dozen others who serve as consultantsThe hospital offers paramediclevel ambulance service and 24hour physician coverage in its Emergency Department Radiology services include xray computed tomography CT and ultrasound Area residents can stay close to home and take advantage of the Mobile Mammography Unit on designated days each month at NMMCPontotoc

NMMCPontotocs subacute unit offers physical occupational and speech therapy as well as skilled nursing care or individualized teaching Subacute patients fit a range of profiles Some patients have been discharged from North Mississippi Medical Center or another facility and require additional professional services before being discharged home Other patients use the subacute unit as preparation for subsequent intensive therapy at NMMCs Rehabilitation Institute to reach their highest level of function

The campus also includes a 44bed nursing home which offers a variety of rehabilitation services and amenities to residents The hospital and nursing home Auxiliary recently renovated a sunroom at the facility to give residents a cheery gathering place for board games and other activities

A local branch office of North Mississippi Medical Centers Home Health Agency is located near Pontotoc Hospital and Nursing Home to better serve community residents requiring home care and hospice services Home Health Agency nurses and staff work closely with local physicians and NMMCPontotoc to ensure optimal care for their patients

To further enhance local health promotion efforts NMMC opened NMMCPontotoc Wellness Center in January 1998 The Pontotoc Wellness Center provides cardiovascular training equipment free weights and a variety of aerobic classes to more than 600 members NMMCPontotoc and the wellness center both play a key role in furthering the NMMC Live Well community health initiative by providing free educational programs and health screenings in a variety of nontraditional settings
