NorthBay Medical Center began in 1956 when community leaders from Fairfield and Vacaville initiated a fund drive to build a hospital that would service families throughout upper Solano County The 32bed nonprofit Intercommunity Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1960 and in 1977 our communitys growth sparked the construction of a new health care facility

NorthBay Medical Center expanded to 108 beds in 1979 and added a Newborn Intensive Care Unit in 1985 In 1992 an addition to NorthBay Medical Center opened its door that included a larger maternity department featuring labordeliverrecovery rooms LDRs a larger Newborn Intensive Care Unit NICU and a stateoftheart critical care unit bringing us to our current 132bed capacity

Community leaders from Fairfield and Vacaville initiated a fund drive to build a nonprofit hospital On December 29 1954 NorthBay Foundation was incorporated What opened in 1960 as Intercommunity Memorial Hospital is now NorthBay Medical Center VacaValley Hospital opened in 1987 following a 12 million community fund raising project

NorthBay Healthcare has grown in both size and sophistication Today we are known for quality care including several services that are offered by no other health care organization in this region

Our Fairfield hospital NorthBay Medical Center delivers more than 1500 babies per year and has the most sophisticated services for premature or ill newborns within 50 miles Our stateoftheart Radiation Oncology Department is supported by technology as modern as systems found at Stanford and other university hospital settings VacaValley Hospital is Vacavilles only hospital and provides that communitys only 24hour care


Not for profit An Important Difference

As a notforprofit organization we use our revenue to update medical equipment and services not to pay shareholders Our entire organization is governed by elected boards of directors comprised of volunteer community leaders

Our board members work to ensure that NorthBay Healthcare provides the best health care possible to everyone in the community who needs it regardless of their abilities to pay And because we are a private organization we receive no direct financial support from the city county state or government
