JFK Memorial Hospital with 145 beds celebrated 40 years of continued service in 2006 to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the community This community hospital delivers over 3500 babies a year treats 45000 patients in its Emergency Room and performs over 5000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually According to Dan Bowers JFKs Chief Executive Officer appointed July 2008 Were challenged to keep pace with the needs of an everexpanding population JFKs proactive strategic planning helps to keep ahead of that curve

Addressing the medical needs of the population is of high priority for the hospital The number of Valley residents with arthritis is prevalent as one in three people suffer from some form of arthritic condition For this reason JFK opened its Arthritis Institute seven years ago The Institute provides a wide range of orthopedic services using a team approach for education diagnosis treatment and surgical intervention if indicated The Arthritis Institute accesses other specialized physicians when needed to provide advanced orthopedic services so our patients do not need to leave the Valley for comprehensive treatment states Jonathan Braslow MD Medical Director of JFKs Arthritis Institute

A stroke program was enhanced in 2006 along with the opening of a new outpatient rehabilitation center offering a full range of programs for patients of all ages including occupational physical speech and stroke therapy New services for neurology have also been added Construction has been started on a neonatal intensive care unit NICU and a new dedicated interventional cardiac catheterization lab
