History
Our History
John Kirby was an Irish immigrant and wealthy livestock farmer He and his wife Mary willed their estate in 1939 to establish the John and Mary E Kirby Hospital Originally housed in one of Monticellos elegant estates it was the cornerstone of our community Although the mansion that was the original hospital is now gone the estates parklike grounds today comprise the site of our fully accredited and licensed community hospital dedicated to serving the people of Piatt County and surrounding areas
