Our greatest resource as a healthcare provider is our people the more than 2100 employees who work daily around the clock to provide care concern and support for the patients we serve and their families They work along with more than 150 physicians and our Volunteer Auxiliaries to carry out our mission of providing patientfocused high quality and costeffective services while promoting health and wellness to improve the healthcare of our community

We are proud of our efforts as a health care provider serving over 300000 people each year through our hospitals emergency departments and outpatient facilities In addition to the care we provide for our patients we are also a major resource to our community Houston Healthcare provided more than 50 million in indigent charity and uncollectible care giving medical services this past year to those who do not have the ability to pay without receiving any tax dollars from local government Through free or lowcost health screenings educational opportunities and support groups more than 88000 encounters occurred this year through our EduCare Community Education and Services program Many of our employees physicians and volunteers work tirelessly in giving back to our community through involvement in organizations such as the Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic American Cancer Society American Heart Association United Way March of Dimes American Red Cross Boy Scouts Girl Scouts YMCA Hospice Rotary and Exchange as well as in their churches and local schools
