History

Greenwood Leflore Hospital was established in a converted house in 1906 by the Kings Daughters Society with the help of the City of Greenwood and Leflore County A new hospital building was built in 1918 again with the help of the city and county In 1931 the name changed from Kings Daughters to Greenwood Leflore Hospital when the Kings Daughters gave the hospital to the city and county In 1936 a 30bed annex was added but by 1952 GLH had moved to a new facility the site of its present location at 1401 River Road in the heart of Greenwood Today we are a 248 bed regional medical center accredited by the Joint Commission Greenwood Leflore Hospital is the second largest employer in Leflore County
