History

Franklin County Memorial Hospital opened on June 6 1952 as a county government owned hospital The hospital was expanded in 1975 to provide ten new patient rooms a new surgery as well as new laundry dietary and laboratory accommodations The medical clinic was also constructed on the hospital campus

In 1994 the hospital opened four Certified Rural Health Clinics one each in Campbell Hildreth Franklin and Red Cloud These clinics operate on appointment basis with services of the Physicians Physician Assistant andor the Nurse Practitioners

In 1996 the hospital opened a Physical Medicine clinic at 709 15th Avenue in Franklin to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy services

In 20032004 the hospital obtained a 1000000 bond funding that allowed the hospital to renovate the physical plant with environmental equipment for heating ventilation and cooling Electrical upgrade and new generator installation was included

The hospital became a Certified Critical Access Hospital in January of 2000 and a Designated Basic Trauma Center in October of 2004 Providing basic medical services appropriate to the needs of our community in a sustainable manner is the focus of the hospital
