History

History of Cumberland River Hospital
Prior to 1965 the citizens of Clay County had to rely on one country doctor and no hospital for their healthcare needs In 1961 the County Court started the process of establishing a hospital for Clay County On July 24 1961 38 acres was purchased for 378000 to be used for the building site After completion of the hospital the county had a problem locating doctors to work in Celina In 1965 physicians Art Cardona and Billy Nesbit started practice in the new 20 bed facility The first administrator was Mr Lloyd Black and Eva Craig was the Director of Nurses

As healthcare has changed so has the hospital Not only do we offer emergency and acute care services the facility has expanded to include geriatric psychiatric care and home healthcare in ten counties

Although the hospital has been through several ownership changes it continues to serve the community with the highest possible level of Healthcare Currently the facility is owned by Restoration Healthcare of Celina The group is composed of Physicians and business men specializing in taking atrisk small facilities and making them profitable
