The Baptist Memorial HospitalMemphis campus includes the flagship hospital of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system Opened in 1979 the hospital is located adjacent to the I240 loop Also located on the Baptist Memphis campus is a separately licensed 30bed skilled nursing facility and the 30bed Restorative Care Hospital With more than 27000 admissions 54000 emergency department visits and nearly 116000 outpatient visits in 2007 Baptist Memphis is one of Tennessees highest volume hospitals
The emergency department has 31 treatment suites and six fast track treatment rooms staffed by 24houraday emergency physicians for the treatment of adults It also has a separate dedicated fiveroom pediatric emergency department staffed around the clock with inhouse pediatric emergency physicians The pediatricians see more than 800 children a month and the service is continuing to grow In addition the hospital houses the 19bed inpatient Hardin Pediatric Center Overall Baptist Memphis offers highquality pediatric services
The Baptist Heart Institute located within Baptist Memphis is dedicated to providing leadingedge cardiovascular research and treatment for heart patients The Heart Institute which measures 165000 square feet includes areas for cardiovascular procedures cardiovascular surgical suites heart catheterization labs cardiovascular intensive care beds a cardiac intervention unit cardiac medicine units a prepost cath lab unit electrophysiology labs a cardiopulmonary transplant unit and a cardiovascular stepdown unit The FordGoltman Clinical Research Center also located in the Heart Institute is a specialized unit dedicated to providing care for clinical research patients
Baptist Memphis also operates the Plaza Diagnostic Pavilion an outpatient facility that handles more than 10000 outpatient visits a month and centralizes many of the hospitals outpatient services In addition the Pediatric Outpatient Center PDs Perch sees more than 800 patients a month
