Description
The new hospital opened on Monday 18 April 2005 and combines the facilities formerly available at Butleigh and Wells and District Hospitals
There are thirty six inpatient beds including one allocated as an assessmentobservation bed Inpatients are medically managed by their own GP Six practices cover the areas of Street Glastonbury and Wells Hospital staff work with approximately thirty five different GPs Patients can be admitted directly from the community by their GP Emergency Care Practitioners Community Matrons or via the Minor Injury Unit
The Minor Injuries Unit is staffed by Emergency Nurse Practitioners Developing Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Staff Nurses and is open 24 hours seven days a week The qualified staff are supported by health care assistants and administrative staff The unit is also supported by direct referrals from the xray and physiotherapy departments
