The centre currently provides a total of 65 beds two 25bed postoperative wards and a 15bed recovery suite with high dependency and critical care facilities and has four stateoftheart orthopaedic operating theatres SWLEOC operated on its first patient in January 2004 Her Majesty the Queen formally opened the hospital in March 2004 as a trailblazer for the NHS Diagnostic and Treatment Centre programme
