NHS Camden is the operating name for Camden Primary Care Trust PCT We are the local NHS organisation responsible for providing healthcare for people who live in Camden We serve a population of about 220000 people and this year we have a budget of pound448 million to spend on local healthcareThis money will be used to commission or pay for services from a wide range of health providers including GPs dentists opticians and community pharmacies acute trusts and mental health trusts

We are also responsible for supporting the local population of Camden to maximise health by promoting healthy lifestyles for example through services like the stop smoking service and sensible drinking service

NHS Camden has recently undergone an internal restructure resulting in the separation of the commissioning and provider functions of the organisation The provider arm of the organisation Camden PCT Provider Services includes services such as sexual health services rehabilitation and disabilities services and childrens services It was awarded Autonomous Provider Organisation status by NHS London in June 2008
