The 425 bed hospital was built in the 1970s and serves a population of over a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area
In 200910 the Hospital continued to provide a full range of district hospital services to the local community and surrounding area These included emergency department services outpatient clinics inpatient services and maternity and childrens services We also provide a number of specialised services including cancer and surgical services in conjunction with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
Last year 200910 we cared for 71891 patients through the Emergency Department in 200910 59776 inpatients and 263703 outpatients We also undertook over half a million diagnostic tests
