History

Shorecare was established in 1973 by the North Shore Emergency Medical Services Society Incorporated to provide after hours patient care and housecalls to the North Shore area Originally the team worked out of the Lister Hospital in Takapuna until purpose built premises were opened in Milford in 1991 and Shorecare expaned its services to provide daytime emergency and accident services by offering 24 hour care A second clinic was opened in February 1996 Shorecare at Northcross and in November 2010 the Smales Farm Clinic opened

Shorecare has been the main provider of nonhospital after hours services on the North Shore for the last 34 years Prior to the opening of the North Shore Hospital Shorecare was the main provider of emergency care on the North Shore
