History

Way back in 1978 Dr P M Varkey took the initiative and an elite group of philanthropists and businessman met to discuss the setting up of a hospital specializing in cardiac cases As a prelude they formed a society namely the Trichur Heart Foundation with DrPMVarkey FRCP as its President The society subsequently sponsored the Trichur Heart Hospital Ltd the first investor owned multi disciplinary Super Speciality High Tech Corporate Hospital with Dr Varkey as its President and Chief Promoter The project was conceived with an idea of establishing an institution of international standards to provide excellence in treatment nursing care service and cleanliness

The Company was floated in 1985 and the foundation stone was laid by his Holiness Pope John Paul on 7th Feb 1986 Visualized to house 500 beds and other supporting facilities the construction was started in 1988

Geographically Trichur enjoys the center place of Kerala and is blessed with a conglomeration of educational institutions of every discipline But up to 90s we did not have super Speciality Hospital in this part of our state which could cater to the needs of seriously ill or injured patients who needed critical careespecially in the field of heart diseases and Trauma cases Trichur Heart Hospital Ltd was intended to fill this vaccum and to make available such expensive treatment at an affordable rate to needy in distress
