Ranjini Eye Hospital REH located at Vyttila Ernakulam started functioning as a full fledged ophthalmic surgical center since January 26 2004 Dr NSD Raju the medical director had initially started Ranjini in the same premises as a residence cum eye clinic in 1994 The surgical area was added in March 2000 Currently the center is a state of the art ophthalmic surgical center catering to the population of Ernakulam Kottayam Trichur Alleppey and Calicut districts of Kerala

Today Ranjini Eye Hospital has gained wide recognition excellence in ophthalmic services and is accredited by the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers NABH under its new standards for Small Health Care Organizations SHCO REH has cleared the rigid and strict quality audit and assessments and has become the first and the only small health care organization in the country to receive this prestigious accreditation under the NABHSHCO standards Remarkably Ranjini Eye Hospital is the first eye hospital in Kerala to bag this accreditation and is the second eye hospital in the country to be accredited by the NABH

Ranjini Eye Hospital also has a community services wing under Cochin Eye Foundation to extend its services to the poor and the needy Ever since its inception the Foundation has remained at the forefront of community service and care Under the auspices of the Foundation patients are treated free of cost from the income generated through the hospital As an ongoing program regular outreach camps are conducted thereby providing treatment and service free of cost to the deserving patients
