After graduating in Medicine in first class in 1978 from Osmania University Dr Jayachandra completed post graduate diploma in chest diseases and tuberculosis in the year 1983 84 Dr Jayachandra started a modern set up in the field of chest medicine For the first time in the twin cities of Hyderabad amp Secunderabad he set up a Chest Out patient services having all diagnostic facilities under one roof with Bronchofibrescope FOB and computerized pulmonary function test laboratory and added these to an existing set up for diagnosis for the chest Pioneering the advancement of practice in chest medicine in Hyderabad he set a trend which now has many follow He has been trained in Marseilles France for Thoracoscopy He is one of the pioneers in Thoracoscopy in the entire South India and now has considerable experience in this investigative modality

Over the last 25 odd years of practice he has accumulated a wealth of experience in the management of chest diseases and critical care problems The busy clinical practice encompasses the entire range of pulmonology problems including support to busy Cardio thoracic departments and also organ transplant programs He has over two thousand fibreoptic bronchoscopy studies to his credit Over the last 5 years he had done over 300 pediatric studies and has been doing lot of therapeutic studies including tracheal dilations and stent placements

He has also being regularly doing diagnostic thoracoscopic studies for pleural diseases and lung biopsies Apart from the diagnostic studies he also does Pleurodesis for refractory cases of pleural effusions He has over 200 cases to his credit

He is also one of the few people offering pericardial window for malignant pericardial effusions To complete the diagnostic facilities He has also included offering Sleep Studies for obesity and sleep related disorders He has conducted Bronchoscopy work shops in various cities of the country with attendees from all over

He has also conducted Thoracoscopy Workshops with live case demonstrations again fro the first time

He is a regular contributor to the local Pulmonology club and a founder member of Hyderabad chapter of Indian Chest Society

He is a member and presently Governor south of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Indian Chest Society
