In the mid nineties a few like minded individuals with trail blazing successful career in diverse professions had a vision of setting up a Health Care Organization to make available best health care facility for the people of the North Eastern States of India Thus began Assam Hospitals Ltd on the 14th Day of February 1997 International Hospital Guwahati was set under the aegis of Assam Hospitals Ltd and was formally inaugurated by late Surabala Bordoloi noted freedom fighter and wife of Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi the first Chief Minister of Assam on 30th May 1999 The following words from the Promoters aptly reflect their vision about the Hospital
