Description

Western Hospital is a 27 acute care community hospital located in Alberton PEI It provides services for approximately 8000 residents of West Prince as well as visitors to the area The services available include a 24 hour emergency department palliative care laboratory and xray services pharmacy as well as inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy occupational therapy and nutrition counseling

Three of the areas five physicians provide primary health care from a physician clinic located on site Walk in clinics are also held from this clinic Visiting specialists surgeons Dr P Shaefer Dr B Walker Dr D Bannon Dr Stultz Geriatrician Dr Singh Psychiatrist come to the hospital on a regular basis for consultation and follow up appointments As well the Provincial Pap Screening Clinic is held here a couple of times a year

Hemo and central line dialysis is offered at Western Hospital although it is administered through the Home Care section of the Department of Health and Wellness Other services located within the hospital but delivered by other divisions include Public Health Nursing and Community Mental Health and Addictions
