History

Methodist Hospital Union County MHUC was originally built as an HCA facility in 1970 and named Union County Hospital The facility was purchased in September 1987 by Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson Kentucky and remains affiliated with Methodist Hospital in Henderson today The hospital operated as a 54bed acute care and long term care facility until January 2001

At that time Methodist Hospital Union County became a Critical Access Hospital and as such reduced the number of acute care beds to 25 maintaining the 16 long term care beds In April 2008 the hospital closed the LTC Unit and converted all of its rooms to private rooms

MHUC has approximately 150 employees and over 60 consulting physicians on staff including 7 active staff members The hospital offers 24hour emergency room services and a wide range of other medical services including

Mammography Physical Therapy
Ultrasound Speech Therapy
Echocardiography Occupational Therapy
Cardiopulmonary Surgical Services
Laboratory

Volunteer Services at MHUC include the Auxiliary Services and Pastoral Care Staff which provide helping hands smiling hearts and spiritual care to the facility patients residents employees and medical staff The Hospital also operates a 4ambulance Emergency medical Service for Union County

The Methodist Hospital Union County Foundation works in partnership with the hospital to promote the facility in the community and surrounding area An Advisory Board of Trustees plays an integral role in providing guidance in meeting the needs of the communities served
