About Us
McDowell Hospital has proudly served residents and visitors of McDowell County for more than 100 years Weve relocated six times moving each time to enhance services to the community However our current location and facility were carefully planned to integrate future expansion In 2004 we became affiliated with Mission Health System bringing new resources and services to the community while allowing the hospital to operate independently governed by its own Board of Directors making decisions based upon one consistent mission

The mission of McDowell Hospital is to serve the healthcare needs of our community giving comprehensive costeffective quality care without regard to race color creed or ability to pay

Although McDowell Hospital continues to evolve with the changing healthcare landscape in America our leading principles remain constant We were founded by selfless community leaders and dedicated physicians Today our physicians nurses and staff strive to honor that guiding spirit We continually promote teamwork integrity empowerment and mutual respect in order to achieve the highest quality healthcare possible for our patients

The McDowell Hospital is a 65bed hospital with approximately 400 employees and doctors who work together to provide a high level of care for all the citizens of McDowell County
