History

---

St Marys Hospital has been a beacon of health and hope for the city of Troy and surrounding neighborhoods for more than 155 years The hospital is the heart of Seton Health a comprehensive integrated network of healthcare services providing care in Rensselaer Saratoga and Albany counties

St Marys was founded when a local pastor requested the assistance of the Daughters of Charity in caring for feverstricken immigrants in the 1840s In 1893 Leonard Hospital opened in the northernmost portion of the city on property bequeathed by a local physician These two Troy icons merged their strengths in 1995 to create Seton Health Seton Health is a member of Ascension Health the nations largest notforprofit Catholic healthcare system

More than 1700 Seton Health associates provide healthcare and support services at St Marys Hospital and more than 20 other sites We are among the regions leading primary care providers offering family practice and internal medicine urgent care OBGYN and pediatrics Seton Healths outpatient services include physical rehabilitation medical imaging incontinence and wound treatment surgical services cardiac rehabilitation a nursing home adult day care home care and much more
