Southamptons hospital experiences huge growth in its emergency volume each summer with the very high influx of visitors to the Lake Huron shoreline Its emergency department has the second highest volume of emergency visits across GBHS hospitals

The community has been very successful in recruiting family physicians to provide inpatient care and coverage of the emergency department year round In addition to its 16 inpatient beds the hospital offers many outpatient services including a womens health clinic The hospital also houses the Day Away Program for Home and Community support services in addition to other community health providers

Day surgery services are offered and recently this program was expanded to include ear nose and throat surgery There are 105 GBHS staff working in Southampton
