Since the Norfolk City Union of The Kings Daughters established the hospital in 1961 CHKD has undergone two major renovations and expansions and is now at the hub of a comprehensive system of caring dedicated exclusively to children

Our History
In 1896 the Norfolk City Union of The Kings Daughters was formed to provide health care for indigent mothers and their children In 1961 The Kings Daughters established Childrens Hospital of The Kings Daughters exclusively for children Today the hospital is a comprehensive health care center still carrying on the tradition of the founding Kings Daughters to treat all children who need the special care available only at CHKD
