Unlike many other states in India Karnataka never had a dedicated Hospital for Diabetes Care amp Research Even though Diabetes is a single disease specialty our Vision was to make a dedicated Hospital as this disease needed more than just a prescription
Diacon Hospital was started on April 8th 1990 as an exclusive Hospital for Diabetes It was started at a time when there were no exclusive Hospital for Diabetes amp even today it continues to be the only Hospital exclusively meant for Diabetes in the state of Karnataka So far a total of over 60000 pts have been registered amp seen by us We have the largest Diabetic registry in the state of Karnataka On an average 15 new patients amp 60 review patients are seen every day in the OP section In short our efforts are to make the life of a Diabetic patient Sweet without SUGAR Our motto is Accessible Accountable amp Affordable
Diacon Hospital has always taken the social responsibility as its main priority We have adopted Slums behind Binny Mills Locality in Bangalore amp patients are being seen free of cost for the last 5 to 6 years We also run Free Type 1 Diabetes clinics on Sundays Free drugs amp Insulin are provided Regular Public awareness programmes amp camps are conducted all over the state
Hospital has a fullfledged Research Unit with qualified doctors Research Associates All the equipments needed for conducting clinical trails as per GCP guidelines are available Multinational Multicentric studies from Phase 1 to Phase 3 Research projects are being conducted in the Hospital for the last 7 to 8 years A separate research wing with 12 staff members are involved in this work Recently Hospital was audited by EMEA authorities Said to be the 2nd Hospital in India to be audited by EMEA European drug agency A total of 27 projects have been completed so far with 8 ongoing projects Another 6 to 7 are in the pipe line
