St John of God Hospital Berwick was formed on 1 September 2003 after Berwick Hospital Incorporated merged with St John of God Health Care The hospital is located in Melbournes southeastern growth corridor approximately 40 kilometres from the Central Business District

The 70bed hospital has been part of the local community since 1939 and provides a range of services including maternity medical surgical hyperbaric medicine and consulting suites to approximately 8000 patients a year

St John of God Health Care have put 145 million into redeveloping and expanding the Berwick hospital which was officially opened on 16 November 2007 The redevelopment included new wards operating theatres day surgery recovery facilities Chapel and patient admission and reception areas

This significant increase in hospital size and facilities means the hospital can increase the services it offers to the community in a modern comfortable light filled environment
