History
History of Northwest Medical Center
Throughout its rich history Northwest Medical Center has remained intertwined with the growing community it serves
The Winfield Hospital had its official opening in 1949 and since that time has been serving the primary health care needs of Marion Fayette Lamar Walker and Winston Counties
In this modern era Northwest Medical Center has added many specialized services reaching beyond our primary service area into a regional service facility A modern wellequipped replacement hospital was built in 1998 and compliments the quality of our Medical Staff and patient care
In addition to the new hospital the hospital campus has a stateoftheart Regional Cancer Center Wellness Rehabilitation Facility Physician Office Building Dialysis Center and an Assisted Living Center
On April 1 2009 the facility opened its new Surgery Center on the second level The hospital is a 71bed facility serving approximately 2500 inpatients and 60000 outpatients annually Over sixty 60 privately practicing physicians treat and refer patients to Northwest with twentysix 26 physicians and three 3 nurse practitioner practicing fulltime in the area
