Virginia Regional Medical Center an 83bed hospital and 116bed convalescent center provides health care and medical services through an active medical staff of 43 physicians dentists and podiatrists representing 23 specialty and subspecialty practices An additional 53 physicians and dentists hold courtesy and consulting privileges at the hospital

Based on patient admissions and scope of services Virginia Regional Medical Center is one of the larger health care facilities in northeastern Minnesota The Virginia medical community has historically provided primary and secondary medical services to a population of over 53000 located within a 30 mile radius secondary specialized referral services are provided to an additional 44000 people residing within an approximate 70mile radius of Virginia

With a professional support staff more than 550 the Medical Center is governed by a board of seven commissionersatlarge designated by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Virginia

Decades of Excellence

Since 1936 the Virginia Regional Medical Center VRMC formerly known as Virginia Municipal Hospital has been providing quality health care services to northeastern Minnesota residents Since its first patient was admitted on December 2 1936 VRMC has been meeting the needs of Iron Range communities in a caring and trusting environment

Growing to meet the need

In 2005 Virginia Regional Medical Center welcomed the addition of the Duluth ClinicVirginia physicians to the VRMC campus with the addition of an 18 million stateoftheart clinic In 2003 upgrades were made to the campus with a completely remodeled Emergency Room which included a totally enclosed ambulance garage private patient treatment rooms with both auditory and visual privacy a private waiting area large trauma rooms and a decontamination station 1999 brought the addition of the VRMC Medical Arts Building which offers patients direct access to physician offices and rehabilitation services on its campus The medical center has expanded its diagnostic capabilities adding a stateoftheart MRI CT scanner stereotactic biopsy breast MRI and cardiac stress echo In addition the surgical area was expanded to handle the rapid growth in outpatient services
