St Michaels Hospital was openend in 1950 under the ownership of the Franciscan Nuns In 1970 the City of Sauk Centre purchased the hospital In May of 1974 the Nursing Home was opened to residentsSt Michaels Hospital and Nursing Home is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Minnestoa Hospital Association

St Michaels Hospital and Nursing Home is owned by the City of Sauk Centre and governed by a Board of Directors which is appointed by the City Council

There are approximately 175 employees of the Hospital and Nursing Home

Lakeview Medical Clinic was added in 1993

Lakeshore Estates opened in 1996

In 2006 St Michaels Hospital and Nursing Home underwent a major construction and renovation project resulting in new patient care areas as well as enhanced ancillary service areas
