History

1888 The Brunswick City Hospital opens its location on First Avenue in the south end of Brunswick

1953 Construction begins on the hospital facility on Parkwood Drive

1954 Glynn Brunswick Memorial Hospital opens a 75bed facility

1957 Glynn Brunswick Memorial Hospital expands to include an additional 52 beds for a total capacity of 127

1965 The Hospital expands again to include a second and third level This adds another 97 beds for a total capacity of 224

1989 GlynnBrunswick Memorial Hospital purchases a Certificate of Need for Gilman HospitalKings Bay Community Hospital Inc

1990 The Radiation Oncology Center opens on Wildwood Avenue

1991 The GlynnBrunswick Memorial Hospital Authority votes unanimously to change the name of the Hospital to Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center

1991 Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center acquires a Certificate of Need for Camden Medical Center

1991 Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center opens Brantley Family Care Center

1993 Camden Medical Center opens

1993 The Hospital Authority votes to adopt the name Southeast Georgia Health System

1994 A physician practice is purchased in McIntosh County and Darien Family Care Center opens

1995 The Sleep Management Center opens on Kemble Avenue

1995 The Camden Medical Pavilion opens next to Camden Medical Center

1998 The new Central Tower opens on the Brunswick Campus

1999 The Island Health Pavilion Prompt Care Center opens on Hamilton Drive St Simons Island

2002 The GlynnBrunswick Memorial Hospital Authority votes unanimously to market Southeast Georgia Health System as One Health System with Multiple Locations All facilities became known by their Campus locations Brunswick Campus Brantley Campus Camden Campus Darien Campus and St Simons Island Campus

2003 A Certificate of Need is issued by the State Planning Agency to construct a 33 million Outpatient Care Center at the Brunswick Campus

2004 Construction begins on the sixstory Outpatient Care Center

2004 A Certificate of Need is applied for at the Camden Campus for the construction of a 29 million addition

2004 The Brunswick Campus is named Best Large Hospital in the State of Georgia by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals

2006 Outpatient Care Center opens on the Brunswick Campus

2006 Groundbreaking held on Camden Campus to kick off a 30 million expansion and renovation project which will add approximately 90000 square feet to the facility

2006 The Health System acquires St Marys Convalescent Center now the Senior Care CenterSt Marys

2006 Camden Campus named runnerup to the 2006 Small Hospital of the Year by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals
