History

History
Pella Regional Health Center first opened in 1960 as Pella Community Hospital It was a 30bed facility to provide hospitalization for the acutely ill In the years since the hospital has changed to serve the needs of Pella and the surrounding communities

A nursing home was added and later renovated in 1992 to include Long Term Care a Sheltered Alzheimers unit and Adult Day Care Hospice of Pella and Pella Regional Home Health Care also expanded its services

In 1996 the hospital merged with Pella Medical Clinic to become Pella Regional Health Center Satellite family health centers were opened in the neighboring communities of Bussey Monroe and Sully A fifth medical clinic The Knoxville Family Health Center opened in 2002

Today patients may seek treatment in a number of departments including Emergency and Urgent Care Dialysis Medical Imaging Nutrition Services Long Term Care Hospice and Home Health Services Laboratory and Pharmacy Obstetrics Cardiac Rehabilitation Sleep Disorders Occupational Therapy Physical Therapy Speech Therapy Respiratory Care and Occupational Health

Community members have volunteered in Hospice at the snack bar and gift shop and at the quotAsk Mequot desk in the hospital lobby The Health Center also hosts The Healing Through Art program in which local artists donate pieces for hospital display
