History

Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health was originally created as Southern Pines Hospital in 1982 and operated as such until 1989 At that time Southern Pines was bought by Charter Medical Corporation and renamed Charter Hospital of Charleston

Charter Pee Dee a second facility was opened in Florence SC in March of 2000 Only a few months later in September of 2000 both organizations were purchased by Palmetto Behavioral Health
