A voluntary nonprofit hospital New York Methodists mission is to provide excellent health care services in a compassionate and humane manner to the people who live and work in Brooklyn and its surrounding areas

New York Methodist is proud to be affiliated with the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and ivy league medical school that is among the nations best in patient care medical education and research We are also a member of the NewYorkPresbyterian Healthcare System which provides us with access to topranking physicians and comprehensive resources including some of the best thought leaders in the medical field

For the past three years NYM has received the Consumers Choice Award for Brooklyn The award given by the National Research Corporation recognizes hospitals with outstanding service and quality in 250 marketing across the US Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected through a survey The winning hospitals rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas in NYMs case Kings County as defined by the US Census Bureau

The mission of New York Methodist Hospital a member of the NewYorkPresbyterian Healthcare System is to provide excellent healthcare services in a compassionate and humane manner to the people who live and work in Brooklyn and its surrounding areas The Hospital is a nonsectarian voluntary institution which includes an acute care general facility and an extensive array of ambulatory and outpatient sites and services New York Methodist Hospital has an historic relationship with the United Methodist Church

In serving its community the Hospital works to achieve these primary objectives

To provide excellent healthcare services in an environment that assures the continuous enhancement of patient safety and to make these services accessible to patients and physicians without regard to age sex race creed national origin or disability

To serve as an educational and research center for the training of physicians nurses and healthcare professionals committed to the Brooklyn community
To provide an active ecumenical program of pastoral care and to conduct a clinical pastoral education program

To offer an environment that is responsive to new and changing technologies and management principles that will stimulate creative solutions for our patients physicians and employees

To assess periodically the healthcare needs of the community and to respond to these needs with healthcare services including health education for patients and community residents and

To work with members of the NewYorkPresbyterian Healthcare System and other healthcare institutions physicians and community groups in jointly pursuing the delivery of quality healthcare services medical education and clinical research

History

The story of New York Methodist Hospital goes back to the 1880s when the Rev James Monroe Buckley having lost a dear friend in a tragic accident persuaded the Methodist Church to build a hospital in Brooklyn
