Mitchell County Memorial Hospital celebrated its grand opening as a county hospital on October 28 1951 The hospital included 33 beds an obstetrics department business office laboratory operating room kitchen dining room and additional service departments

Today Mitchell County Regional Health Center is a Critical Access Hospital with twentyfive beds Over the years many changes have taken place from changes to the physical plant in Osage to the formation of a Physician Hospital Organization PHO This partnership includes Mercy Medical Center North Iowa Mitchell County Memorial Hospital and clinics in Osage Riceville St Ansgar and Stacyville
