History

The original hospital was opened in 1961 The 14 bed facility was built with HillBurton funds a county bond issue and private donations In 1965 another patient wing added an additional 18 beds In 1970 a 20 bed long term care unit was added In 1980 an outpatient area was added to accommodate specialists coming from Lincoln In 1991 a new nurses station medication prep and storage room ICU administrative offices and a radiology reading room were added In 1997 the hospital purchased a physician clinic and in 1999 a new building and Wellness Center were added The clinic Wellness Center and hospital are all connected for easy patient access In 1999 an inhouse CT scanner was also added In October of 1999 the hospital became one of the first Critical Access Hospitals in the state of Nebraska This cost based reimbursement system has allowed the hospital to continue to offer state of the art medicine to our rural community
