About Us
In 1943 a young woman named Cleo Spurlock Wallace began treating children with speech and language problems What began as a school in her basement has become the Rocky Mountain Regions most comprehensive psychiatric center for children and adolescents For 60 years Devereux Cleo Wallace DCW has treated children with psychiatric needs

Founded in 1943 DCW is proud to be Colorados premier facility for the treatment of psychiatric emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents ranging in age from 8 to 21 Nationally recognized for its innovative and familyfocused programs the Center receives referrals from throughout the United States Located in Westminster Colorado a northwest suburb of Denver DCW offers a full continuum of care as well as an independent living program residential treatment and daily treatment services

DCW works to provide treatment with a focus on the specific issues of the individual youth while at the same time strengthening the family and teaching them new ways for coping in the future Ultimately our goal is stabilize the behaviors that brought a child into treatment so that they may successfully transition to a lesser restrictive setting We coach the youth and family on adapting new behaviors and learning alternative way to manage behavior

DCW utilizes a solutionoriented model of family therapy in which parents and families are seen as active participants in their childs treatment This treatment approach focuses on capitalizing of available parental strengths and resources rather than traditional quotuncoveringquot approaches The solutionoriented model recognizes that youth and families have been constructing solutions for themselves for years and that they have the resources and strengths to resolve their complaints It is our task to access and build on these inherent strengths
