Age UK opens new support service for the elderly at Stamford Hospital

A NEW support service for the elderly has opened in Stamford

Age UK officially opened its new centre at Stamford Hospital on Thursday last week The facility was set up to offer a range of care and social options for people in the town

The centre also honours a commitment made to Stamford Darby and Joan Club to run a social event for older people after the club closed about 10 years ago

Acting chief officer of Age UK Kesteven Rob Hearmon said Stamford is an important part of the area and with the encouragement of the hospital we are very pleased to have a presence back in the town

The new centre will work with the elderly in a number of ways This will include some day care and support services and the charity hopes to become more involved within Stamford

Mr Hearmon added We are looking to complement the community work going on in Stamford Hospital and be involved with that as much as possible

We will also develop the old Darby and Joan sense of responsibility
